Wolin National Park

The Wolin National Park was established in 1960 and covers part of the largest Polish island – Wolin, located on the north-western ends of Poland. The special values of this place are the most beautiful stretch of the cliff coast, beech forests, the unique Świna delta and the coastal belt of the Baltic Sea. Nearby towns are Świnoujście and Międzyzdroje.
The most interesting attractions of the Wolin National Park
In the vicinity of Wapnica there are fragments of open-pit chalk mines. The beautiful Turquoise Lake with this color, captivating tourists, is lost here. This lake and the Bison Show Farm are the most visited places in the Park. I heartily recommend the viewpoints of the Wolin National Park, all well-marked, with characteristic wooden shelters on the tops:
- Gosań Hill - one of the highest, if not the highest cliffs in Poland, measures over 93 m above sea level and offers a nice view of the Baltic Sea
- Kawcza Góra - the famous stairs with a beautiful view of the Baltic Sea lead to it from the beach in Międzyzdroje, you can also climb Kawcza Góra through the forest, the black trail from Międzyzdroje
- Zielonka Hill - offers a view of the islands in Świna, but the viewpoint is already somewhat obscured by tall trees, the blue trail
- Piaskowa Góra with a beautiful view of Turquoise Lake, blue trail
- Grodzisko Lubin Tarasy Widokowe - slightly outside the Park, it is the only paid viewpoint, but also the most spectacular, allows you to see the Szczecin Lagoon and the Land of 44 islands, next to the free parking lot you can also see a nice view for free, but on the terraces it is more interesting, wider and additionally there is a small café and sun loungers on site

Attractions of the Wolin National Park on the map
Below we have prepared a map with marked attractions of the Wolin National Park. There are also marked car parks near them.
Cliffs in Woliński PN
The land area of the National Park is strongly diverse in terms of landscape. The dominant landscape here is a range of frontal moraine hills bordering the sea for about 15 km. The highest active cliffs (steep coasts washed by sea waves) reach a height of about 90 m above sea level. This is the aforementioned Gosań Mountain, located a little to the east of Międzyzdroje. These cliffs look wonderful and picturesque from the beach. Abrasion, the activity that destroys the sea waves of the cliff coast, shifts the shoreline by about 80 cm every year.

Delta Świny
Another type of landscape is the one created by the Świna delta with several dozen marshy islets, which are a paradise for wild birds, and yet another type of landscape is the lake district with post-glacial lakes, ozos and kems, in the vicinity of Varnowo. A small part of the Park is occupied by a vast area of sandro (Wapnica-Karnocice). These are all remnants of a land glacier operating here in the distant past.

Historical souvenirs of the Wolin National Park
In the area of the Wolin National Park, there are numerous traces and remains of hillforts and places related to settlement and fishing from historical times. However, the last war left the most "souvenirs" - trenches, bunkers and foundations of V-3 weapons in Wick.
The Baltic Coast Trail

The red trail in the Wolin National Park is commonly called the "Baltic coast trail" and has a length of 19 km. Its main attraction is a hike along the sea shore, although it is also worth seeing the Kawcza Góra lookout point and the Kikut lighthouse. Route: gate at the WPN management – Kawcza Góra lookout point (1.5 km) - beach in Międzyzdroje – beach in Wisełka – Kikut lighthouse – Koprowo Lake – Kołczewo. The red Seaside Trail running along the Polish coast also runs through the Wolin National Park.
