Where did the name of the city come from
Władysławowo, or the popular Władek, is proudly named after King Władysław IV Vasa, who built a fortress of the war fleet here. The earlier settlement was called Wielka Wieś. Interestingly, to this day, the city is called that in Kashubian (Wiôlgô Wies). There is little rural element left here. It is a bustling city with a sparkling tower of the Fisherman's House.
