The castle in Tworków

The Palace in Tworków, which was initially a castle, is a beautiful building located in the small town of Tworków south ofRacibórz. Although only the ruins of the palace have survived to this day, they look extremely interesting and make a great impression on tourists. In recent years, they have been carefully restored and are available free of charge to tourists during the tourist season.
The most interesting novelty here is visiting the high tower, at the top of which there is a convenient observation terrace, from which you can admire not only the great and atmospheric monument, but also the surrounding area. This is one of the most interesting attractions of the picturesque Upper Oder Region!

History of the castle in Tworków
The ruins of the palace in Tworków stand among trees, in the northern part of Tworków, at Parkowa Street. The first castle was probably built here in the fourteenth century, but not much is known about it. This medieval castle was significantly rebuilt in the 16th century by Kasper Wiskota von Wodnik, and later also owned by the Reiswitz family.
However, the greatest influence on today's image of the palace was exerted by the von Saurma-Jeltsch family

What is very important, in 1931 a huge fire broke out in the palace, apparently the glow was visible within a radius of 60 km! Almost the entire palace was destroyed, but here the tragic story begins, because it was considered to be a simple arson in order to extort compensation. A terrible thing, especially since everything was for nothing, because the trick failed and the owner received much lower compensation than he assumed.

Since then, the palace has never been rebuilt, and in addition, it burned down for the second time during World War II. As a German monument destroyed during the war, the palace was considered unworthy of attention and even plans were made to demolish it. Fortunately, this did not happen and the palace still stands today.

Palace in Tworków today
Currently, the palace in Tworków is the property of the Krzyżanowice commune, to which Tworków belongs and where security works are carried out. The palace is available to tourists free of charge throughout the year, there are further plans for the development of this place.
The castle tower in Tworków is one of the elements of the Silesianka Trail - a cross-border project involving 34 towers and viewing platforms in the Silesia Euroregion, on the Polish and Czech sides. The palace itself is one of the most interesting attractions of the Upper Odra Region.

Nearby, it is also worth visiting the church of St. Peter and Paul in Tworków, a pearl of the Baroque, but it is also very valuable, for example, because of the crypt with 17th-century coffins and an unusual collation box for the former owners of the palace. At the palace, however, you can enter the castle park and the Trzeciok pond with the former mill and walk along the atmospheric tree alley - Horror.
