Szczeliniec Wielki is the highest and most popular elevation of the Table Mountains (919 m above sea level). This is one of the most interesting attractions in Lower Silesia, very often visited by tourists. The place is beautiful, and climbing to the top is not very difficult. And only at the top awaits the biggest attraction - a peculiar rock city. The peak belongs to the Crown of the Polish Mountains.

Yellow trail to Szczeliniec

The easiest way to get to Szczeliniec Wielki is via the yellow trail from the village of Karłów (12 km from Kudowa Zdrój). On the last fragment of the approach to Szczeliniec, you have to stray from this trail. Interestingly, a route formed of 680 stone steps, built in the 18th century, leads to the very top. The entrance to Szczeliniec Wielki by this route takes about 40 minutes.

Tourist route in Szczeliniec

Szczeliniec Wielki

In fact, this is only the beginning of Szczeliniec and its attractions, because the characteristic, flat top is a huge labyrinth created naturally from original rock forms and there is a paid tourist route, which I highly recommend to go through. This route starts behind the tourist hostel and is about 2 km long.

Inferno on Szczeliniec

It hides fantastic rock formations, including a very interesting Hell. It is a kind of ravine, high and quite narrow, as well as dark, thanks to which no one is surprised by the snow in June. I definitely recommend going through this route, because it is only here that you can really feel and see up close the table mountains, named after their flat shape.

Piekiełko

Monkey Man

The names given to the most interesting rocks refer to their shapes, there is, among others, Camel or the famous Monkey Man towering over the area, resembling a large monkey to the illusion. The Szczeliniec Rocks are also an excellent climbing spot. Szczeliniec Wielki is located within the Table Mountain National Park. This is a great natural attraction that you must get to know and visit at least once in your life 🙂

Viewing Slit

At the top of Szczeliniec there are several viewpoints and platforms, from where, with good visibility, you can see the entire Kłodzko Valley, as well as the Sudetenland range with the Karkonosze Mountains. At the top there is a shelter, where one of such viewpoints was created. In the vicinity, it is also worth visiting Błędne Skały - a unique rock labyrinth.
