Rzucewo Castle. Palace with a hotel on the quiet Bay of Puck

Rzucewo Castle, or rather the palace in Rzucewo, is a unique place in a tiny Kashubian village, on the calm waters of the Bay of Puck. Such a quiet place by the Polish sea rarely happens. We were enchanted by the same, because we experienced an exceptionally magical rest here. It is near Puck, north of Gdynia and Gdańsk.

History of the castle of Jan III Sobieski in Rzucewo
Castle Castles is only a castle in name, but the object is truly noble. The current building was built as a neo-Gothic palace for the von Below family in the mid-nineteenth century. However, from the 16th century, there was a manor house of the famous Wejhery region. Over time, the court fell into the hands of King Jan III Sobieski himself, because it was offered to him by his own sister, the widow of Michał Radziwille. That is why the locals called the building the name of the king, which was adopted and functions to this day
The king was in this area several times, but it was his beloved Marysieńka who resided here more. She probably ate breakfast with a view of the sea, as we had the pleasure, although she did not live to see today's terrace, because she died about 200 years before it was created.
Rzucewo Castle - hotel and restaurant

After years of neglect, the palace in Rzucewo is now beautifully revitalized and well looked after. The surroundings are stunning, with a beautiful garden, horses and a beach at your fingertips. But also the interiors are beautiful, you can spend the night in them, in an elegant hotel.
And if not for longer, you can come for a moment, for coffee or dinner, because a café and a restaurant have been created here. And although the interiors are very impressive, I still recommend eating on the terrace, overlooking the water. We also witnessed the wedding in this beautiful outdoor scenery.

Beach at the palace in Rzucewo
The descent from the castle gardens leads directly to the sandy sea shore. The water is so calm here that it seems to have frozen in place. As if it were a small lake, not a sea shore. Interestingly, trees grow here, above the very surface, which you will not experience in another part of the Baltic Sea. Seaside trees lean toward the sea, their branches almost touching the water's surface.
The beach is narrow, but there were many moments when it was just for us and the many jellyfish that swam beside our feet. They are blue cheeks that do not burn and do not cause any pain to a person. They are more likely to harm themselves because they like shallows and when the sea throws them ashore, they die without water. I remember this painting from many years ago, when I was swimming with jellyfish on the colonies in the neighboring Osłonin.

Seal Hunter Settlement
If you are looking for a beach without screens and without crowds, then Rzucewo will be a very good idea. We also walked to a very old seal-hunting settlement, where a small museum and a cultural park await.

Accommodation in Rzucewo
While visiting the Bay of Puck, we slept in the Rzucewo Castle. Although it is a castle only in name, it is a fantastic object. The current form of the neo-Gothic palace took place in the 19th century, and earlier there was the court of the Wejher family and King Jan III Sobieski. Currently, after thorough revitalization, the hotel offers an elegant hotel and a restaurant with a cafe. It is probably the most beautifully located palace in Poland. It is only 100 metres from the sea. There are beautifully decorated rooms and a wonderful terrace for breakfast overlooking the sea. Breakfasts are also very tasty and rich. Directly from this terrace you can descend to a secluded beach. The place is unique, for a peaceful holiday in a beautiful facility, with a wonderful garden behind which horses graze.
