1. Ostrów Tumski in Poznań

Ostrów Tumski is the oldest part of the city with a powerful archcathedral basilica (Ostrów Tumski 17) inscribed in the panorama of Poznań for centuries. Its origins date back to the 10th century, when Mieszko I built a three-nave early Romanesque basilica next to the prince's palate.

2. Market in Poznań

When we cross the picturesquely winding Warta near Ostrów Tumski, our legs will take us to the Market Square - a huge square in the middle of which is dominated by the colossus of the Town Hall - the most magnificent Renaissance building in Greater Poland - the seat of the Museum of the History of the City of Poznań. These are 16th-century tenement houses with arcades, built on the site of earlier wooden buildings. 4. Royal Castle in Poznań 

The Poznań royal castle dates back to the 13th century and Przemysł I, who initiated its construction, the work was continued by his son Przemysł II and later by Casimir the Great, during whose time the castle became the largest secular building in Poland. Today, the magnificently rebuilt castle has become an ornament of the city, and its tower rises above the Market Square (Przemysł Hill 1).

8. New Zoo in Poznań

Poznań is the only city in Poland where you will find two Zoos, New and Old. While the latter is located in the Old Town, the New Zoo was built near Malta, on a large area. It is a great place for recreation for the whole family.

9. Imperial Castle in Poznań

There is another castle in Poznań, the one at 80/82 Święty Marcin Street. It is the so-called imperial castle, although it is really a neo-Romanesque palace. Today, it houses the Cultural Center.

10. Górków Palace in Poznań

Palaces and other interesting buildings in Poznań are also worth exploring. Noteworthy is the Górków Palace at 27 Wodna Street. It was created in the 16th century from a combination of Gothic tenement houses. The entrance gate from Klasztorna Street is decorated with an interesting portal. Inside, there is the Archaeological Museum - one of the oldest museums in Poland. 

11. Działyński Palace in Poznań

It stands on the Old Market Square (78/79) and dates back to the 18th century, it is a classicist building covering a branch of the Kórnik Library.

12. Citadel Park in Poznań

A great park built on the site of the former Citadel - something for history lovers, but also for cyclists or roller skaters. Strollers will find benches, beautiful vegetation and flowers, and even tame squirrels.

All this makes Poznań eagerly visited by tourists, which is best seen at noon on the Market Square, when Poznań goats give a performance 🙂 Then the crowd of spectators is staring at the beautiful, Renaissance Town Hall, more precisely its high tower.
