Observation tower in Krynica Zdrój

Wieża widokowa w Krynicy

The observation tower in Krynica Zdrójwith a treetop path is the first such attraction in Poland! It was created in 2019 and is unique. This is a wonderful object that was lacking in Poland, because for several years similar observation towers have been being built in our southern neighbors - in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, and it was there that Polish tourists wanted to taste the adrenaline and wonderful scenic impressions on the observation towers. Now it is also possible in Poland, because Krynica was the first such observation tower in Poland! This unique wooden structure is located at the top of the Słotwina Arena ski station, at an altitude of about 890 m above sea level, on the Drabiakówka slope, among the forests of the Jaworzyna Krynicka range. From the very beginning, the observation tower in Krynica attracts many tourists from all over Poland.

The tower in Krynica has a height of 49.5 m, while the path winds up above the trees over a length of 1030 meters. The experience is year-round and available to virtually anyone! The entire structure, both the observation tower and the path, does not have a single step, so it is accessible even to families with small children and to people with disabilities. They can reach the tower with a modern sofa lift - a 6-person chairlift, which can also be transported by prams - for children and people with disabilities. The queue is equipped with wind shields.

Tower in Krynica good for people with fear of heights

I often hear and read the statements of others in the style of "this observation tower in Krynica is not for me, because it is so high, and I am afraid of heights, I will not climb it in my life". I will at least reassure those who do not have a very strong fear of heights! The fact that the path and the tower itself do not have stairs is a great plus not only for people with disabilities and families with wheelchairs, but also for people with fear of heights. Entering this way is safe, very convenient and much easier, because there are no free and transparent spaces here and you can not see the abyss under your feet. In addition, as there are no stairs, you do not have to look under your feet when walking along a wide and gently climbing up the path. So I guarantee that people with a slight or medium fear of heights feel quite good here, I checked on myself🙂 It is much better than even on a lot of lower towers, but with stairs, often narrow and steep.

The tallest wooden observation tower in Poland

The observation tower in Krynicais also the highest wooden observation tower in Poland (until 2021) and the first such project in our country, which has become a mega attraction from the very beginning. Unlike foreign projects, the tower in Krynica is entirely made of wood, acacia robinia, thanks to which it is extremely aesthetic, and at the same time safe and solid. The path is supported by 18 supporting towers and 87 poles. It is also enriched with a metal structure, independent of the wooden one. Both the observationtower in Krynica and the walk along the path allow you to admire amazing views of the surrounding peaks, including Jaworzyna Krynicka - the most popular peak of the Beskid Sądecki. A walk along the path to the tower provides many impressions, including aesthetic ones, because the views are beautiful and are the driving force for the route, which passes very quickly and does not take much time at all.

Tower in Krynica - interesting facts

Walking along the path in the treetops at the observation tower in Krynica, you will learn about the surrounding nature and the history of the region, thanks to very interesting, original educational installations:

Hotel for dogs under the tower

An interesting thing is also a hotel for dogs, i.e.cages standing at the entrance to the tower, where you can leave your four-legged friend for a walk🙂 This is a great solution that is worth introducing in many other places, because as a dog owner I know that this can be a problem when the attraction is not available to animals and it is a barrier to take a four-legged travel companion with you.

Children's bikes in the tower

For children, however, special strollers resembling small bicycles have been prepared, thanks to which you can easily go to the tower with small children and they will not complain about leg pain🙂 Bicycles can be pushed, which is useful for smaller children, and also have built-in bags where you can store the necessary things for the child while walking to the tower.

Tower Slide

An additional fun at the tower in Krynica is the fact that from the top of the tower you can go down a special slide - a pipe, 60 m long! This is a version for the brave, but also a great joy 🙂

How to get to the tower in Krynica?

  • The observation tower can be reached on foot by a prepared walking path leading from under the lift, it is an easy and not far route, only the first part is steeper
  • Who does not like or can not walk in the mountains, can choose a modern chairlift, it is a 6-seater sofa that transports not only people, but also prams, bicycles and wheelchairs for people with disabilities
  • It is still possible to walk up the slope under the lift, but this is quite an uncomfortable option, not very comfortable, because the slope is quite steep and there is no trail here. However, it is a faster alternative to the pedestrian path.

Is it worth going to the observation tower in Krynica?

If you ask whether it is worth it, I answer that yes, it is worth visiting the tower in Krynica. It is true that the attraction is not cheap, but it can be a nice family trip for the whole day, with beautiful views of the mountains, in close proximity to nature. Not only you, but also the children will calm down here and take a break from technology and the city. We often leave a comparable amount in restaurants or amusement parks, and yet it is a great trip to the mountains, a completely different activity than city attractions, with wonderful views and curiosities on the route. I definitely think it's worth planning a trip to the observation tower in Krynica Zdrój!
