Museum of Cracow

The Museum of Krakow, formerly called the Historical Museum of the City of Krakow, is one of the oldest Polish museums, founded in Krakow in 1899. The museum collects exhibits in the field of material culture, political and economic history, as well as art and traditions of the city's inhabitants from the earliest times to the present day.

Branches of the Museum of Krakow
Currently, the Museum of Krakow includes as many as 19 Branches. Each of them presents different fragments of the history of Krakow, so everyone will find something interesting for themselves here.
The Museum of Krakow is a laureate of many awards and distinctions of Polish organizations, and in 2012 it was included in the "Forbes" Diamonds list. The museum is open to tourists, friendly and friendly staff, and in individual branches it is possible to take photos (without a flash).

Recommended Branches
Visiting at least a few Branches of the Museum helps to get to know and understand Krakow better, with its centuries-old history and tradition. One of the newer branches of the Museum is the Underground Market with a multimedia exhibition on the underground route stretching under the main market square in Krakow. The main seat is the Krzysztofory Palace, standing on the Main Market Square, at the intersection of Szczepańska Street. An interesting permanent exhibition is presented here in the cellars, while on the floors you can visit temporary exhibitions.
A unique branch is certainly the Old Synagogue in Kazimierz, where you will learn about the history of Krakow Jews and look into the oldest synagogue in Poland, dating from the 16th century.
