Castle in Mirów. Brothers castles Mirów and Bobolice in the Jura

The brick castle inMirów on the Jura stood on the top of a rock during the times of Casimir the Great. It remained in ruins for many years. It was later restored as a permanent ruin. Currently, it is being rebuilt to some extent, by the same owner as the neighboring Bobolice Castle, completely reconstructed. The Mirow castle is to be opened to tourists soon, now you can enter the castle hill for a fee, and the ruins themselves are inaccessible.
History of the Mirow Castle
The fortress was built in the middle of the fourteenth century. On the site of a wooden and earthen fortress. Initially, it was exhibited as a watchtower subordinate to Bobolice. Only later did it expand into an independent stronghold. Like most Jurassic strongholds, this one was made of stones bonded with lime mortar. Although the castle was later rebuilt many times, this small, charming building, which remained in ruins, retained its medieval character.
Mirow Castle today

Currently, the owner of the Mirowski Castle in the Jura, as well as the neighboring Bobolice Castle, is the Lasecki family. For years, it protected the ruins while maintaining its external appearance. However, plans have been broadened for several years and now the stronghold is being raised from ruins. The works are ongoing, so it is impossible to enter the ruins themselves.
The renovation has been going on for a long time, but there is hope for its quick completion and making the castle available in the form of a museum. For now, the castle membranes have been made available for a fee, they have been fenced and you can enter only after buying a ticket.

The brotherly castles of Mirów and Bobolice. Legend
Being in the nearby, beautifully renovated Bobolice Castle (1.5 km), it is worth going to Mirowo, because the ruins of the Mirow castle are extremely picturesque. Once, both strongholds belonged to the Eagles' Nests defense system protecting the Republic of Poland from Silesia. Apparently, both castles were connected by an underground tunnel, and they were ruled by brothers who entered into a dispute over a woman, which ended tragically. Jealous Bobol killed Mir and walled his beloved up in the dungeons. Today, she appears in the castle as the White Lady.

Skałki Mirowskie - Grzęda Mirowska
According to legend, the connection between the castles used to lead through underground dungeons. Today, I recommend the picturesque trail leading from one castle to another through the beautiful Mirowskie Rocks, called the Mirowska Ridge. Until recently, the red Eagle's Nest Trail ran here.
Later, the perch ceased to be accessible to tourists in its entirety and a net stood between the castles. Today, the entire area belongs to the Lasecki family. You can walk from the castle to the castle along a path about 1.5 km long. However, you have to pay. You can do it at the castle in Mirów or at the castle in Bobolice.
Slightly off the path, you can also find the Stable Cave. It is unique because the teeth of a Neanderthal, i.e. Bobolus Jurajski, were discovered here.

Our walk along the Grzęd Mirowska on the map
Below you will find an interesting route proposal marked on the map. It leads from the Bobolice stronghold near Mirowska, through Grzęda Mirowska and under the Stajnia cave. It is a total of just over 3 km of road and you can fit even in 1 hour, but it is worth spending more time on it. Then you will enjoy the views, and it is worth trying to visit the interiors of the Bobolice castle.
