Międzyzdroje. Attractions worth visiting
Międzyzdroje is a beautiful, very popular Baltic resort, with a 150-year tradition, located on the north-western edge of Poland, in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, on the island of Wolin, about 15 km from Świnoujście. A step away from the Wolin National Park. Międzyzdroje is called the summer capital of Western Pomerania, there are many tourists from all over Poland, famous people especially liked this place, as evidenced by Aleja Gwiazd - a sidewalk with handprints of stars of the Polish scene, e.g. Cezary Pazura.
Międzyzdroje has the status of a spa due to its therapeutic microclimate, brine and mud. There are beautiful, historic villas here and there that invite you to their luxurious rooms. Today, they are already interspersed with modern buildings, which creates a bit of chaos, but it is difficult to take away the charm of Międzyzdroje, it is a great place for a summer holiday and even in this popular resort you can find secluded places.

1. Beaches in Międzyzdroje
The beaches here are very wide and beautiful, the sand is soft and invites you to lie down and play on it. The beaches at the pier and the nearby entrances can be quite crowded during the season, but there is a place, but if you do not like screens and crowds, I recommend the beach at the Port in Międzyzdroje. This is a very charming place, reminding me of my favorite Orłowska beach, but it is its mirror image - on the left there is a pier, on the right there is a high, picturesque cliff, and in front of you there is an open sea, birds and breakwaters, as well as fishing boats. Even fewer tourists spread out on the beach on the right side of the Port, so moving towards Kawcza Góra, it is worth taking advantage of it and enjoying the charms of a secluded, wonderful beach
Address: Beaches, several descents from the Promenade

2. Pier in Międzyzdroje
The pier in Międzyzdroje is a unique place, its length is 395 meters, and a characteristic crossing with turrets leads to it. While it is quite crowded at this entrance and in the covered part with souvenirs and cafes, the same pier is usually less populous, empty at the end. You have to remember that it is quite windy here, but it is very pleasant and you can admire the beautiful views here. At the end of the pier, cruises on the stylized Viking ship begin, we did not decide because of the little daughter, but there are no age restrictions and we were attracted by the cruise, maybe another time
Address: Pier, access via Bohaterów Warszawy Street
3. Baltic Miniature Park in Międzyzdroje
The Baltic Miniature Park is unusual because it presents a miniature of the Baltic Sea, and around it are characteristic buildings from all Baltic countries, on a scale of 1:25. There are lighthouses, palaces and castles, border poles and the Donation of Pomerania, all beautifully described on plaques. This is an interesting and ingenious place where a guide will guide you if you want to listen to his stories 🙂 It's amazing that about 45 minutes is enough to visit the entire Baltic coast and as many as 9 countries! There is also a small children's area with a playground and queues.
Address: Bałtycki PM, 98 Nowomyśliwska Street
4. Oceanarium in Międzyzdroje
The aquarium is quite a young attraction, created in 2019 on the promenade, this place is very interesting and ideal for bad weather, although you will also have a great time here in the sun. The aquarium is open all year round, and in the large aquariums you will see fish from the farthest corners of the world, even small sharks and moray reefs, fabulously colorful coral reef fish - clowns, caterpillars, mouthworms or freshwater sturgeons or arapaima. Colorful aquariums and a 16-meter half-tunnel are not everything, there are also cool rooms for children, where they will have fun and learn at the same time, using multimedia, and parents will relax
Address: Oceanarium, ul. Bohaterów Warszawy 16B
5. Wax Figure Cabinet in Międzyzdroje
On the main promenade, almost opposite the entrance to the pier, there is the famous Cabinet of Wax Figures. Among the figures that can be seen here are: Cezary Pazura, Bogusław Linda, Krystyna Janda, Columbus, Albert Einstein or Cleopatra, there are also scenes from famous films and fairy tales, such as Frozen, Shrek, Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones
Address: Cabinet of Wax Figures, ul. Bohaterów Warszawy 19
6. Planetarium in Międzyzdroje
Above the Wax Cabinet, next to the Eva cinema, you will immerse yourself in the wonderful and fascinating interstellar world. On the 7-meter dome, three-dimensional images of the Universe are displayed here using digital projectors. Unlike classic planetariums, here you can not only see the current position of the stars, but also travel around the galaxies. At the designated hours, specially prepared films about the universe around us are also shown, which makes a big impression!
Address: Planetarium, ul. Bohaterów Warszawy 19
7. Aleja Gwiazd w Międzyzdroje
The history of the Avenue of Stars begins in 1996, when during the Holiday Festival of Stars, the first Polish artists imprinted their hands in commemorative CDs on the famous Promenade in Międzyzdroje. Among the many prints you will find a reflection of the hands of Adam Ferency, Ania Przybylska, Krystyna Janda, Beata Tyszkiewicz, Marek Kondrat, Wojciech Malajkat or Piotr Adamczyk
Address: Aleja Gwiazd, ul. Aleja Gwiazd
8. Stairs to Kawcza Góra in Międzyzdroje
The famous stairs to Kawcza Góra allow you to admire beautiful views of the Baltic Sea. Kawcza Góra itself is located in the Wolin National Park and is so overgrown that it does not give too many views, so it is worth going down the stairs to the beach. You can reach them either from above, from Kawcza Góra, or from below, from the beach, which is more charming. Just walk along the beach or promenade to the Port and continue along the beach to the stairs, it is a few hundred meters from the Port, in July 2021 the stairs were closed to tourists, but many people did not comply with this prohibition
9. Wolin National Park
The Wolin National Park protects the valuable and unique nature of the Wolin Island. In the Wolin Park, you can visit the Natural Museum, the Bison Show Farm and several viewpoints with characteristic wooden shelters with hill names. These are Kawcza Góra, Wzgórze Gosań (the highest cliff in Poland), Wzgórze Zielonka, Piaskowa Góra with a view of Turquoise Lake and Grodzisko Lubin Observation Deck. The latter, outside the Park, is the only paid viewpoint, but also the most spectacular, allows you to see the Szczecin Lagoon and the Land of 44 islands, this land can also be seen from the Zielonka Hill, but here everything has already overgrown a little. Gosań offers a nice view of the Baltic Sea. Kawcza Góra is also directed to the sea, but as I mentioned, the views only appear from the stairs leading to the beach. Piaskowa Góra allows you to admire the beautiful Turquoise Lake
Address: WPN, Grodno 1, Międzyzdroje
10. Bison Show Farm in Międzyzdroje
In the forest, in the Wolin National Park, near Kawcza Góra, you can visit Żubrowisko - a farm with animals, in which, in addition to large bison, you will also see a white-tailed eagle - a symbol of the Park, wild boar and deer, if they do not go for a walk, because they have a large enclosure. The bison are quite clearly visible from the wooden platforms. The facility is located in the forest, it is not specially prepared for wheelchairs, but you can walk from the free parking lot on dry days to the farmhouse with a wheelchair and move around it, we tried it ourselves, the facility is not open on Mondays, it is worth remembering, we forgot and had to repeat the walk through the forest 😉
11. Promenade in Międzyzdroje
The main promenade of the city, leading to the pier, is Bohaterów Warszawy Street. You will find the most important attractions of Międzyzdroje - the Avenue of Stars, the Office of Wax Figures, the Oceanarium, as well as descents to the beach. During the season, there are also plenty of stalls offering souvenirs and necessary gadgets by the sea, and there are also completely superfluous 😉 There are also pubs on the Promenade.
Address: Promenada, ul. Bohaterów Warszawy

Where to sleep and eat in Międzyzdroje?
Międzyzdroje is a tourist mecca on the Polish part of the Baltic Sea, so you will find plenty of places to sleep and consume, depending on the wealth of your wallet, because there are both very luxurious hotels, such as Bel Mare Resort, quite comfortable villas and residences, as well as cheaper rooms for every budget. It is also worth booking accommodation a little earlier, because Międzyzdroje is popular and there are often no vacancies in summer. We can in good conscience recommend the 5 Oak Residence with affordable prices, located at Gryfa Pomorskiego Street, where we spent 5 nights, with delicious and varied breakfasts and homemade dinners. We had a few minutes walk to the beach, just a little further to the pier, less than 10 minutes on foot.
In the break between meals or for lunch, if the accommodation does not offer it, you can choose one of many cafes, catering outlets or restaurants on the Promenade and nearby. Prices are not low, as is the case at the seaside, and Międzyzdroje itself is not cheap, we have checked 🙂 But once a year there is a holiday! If you dream of fresh fish, as it is by the sea, I recommend the port in Międzyzdroje, there are several frying rooms here, where you can find fish of good quality, tasty and fresh, fried or smoked. We tasted the specialties of the Golden Dune located on the very beach in the Port. A place with a wonderful view of the sea, fresh fish and tasty fish soup. Next to it, Strzecha also looked very good. You will find a lot of cafes, we just drank coffee in the secluded Ibis Cafe outside the Promenade and its immediate surroundings, those closer to the sea were more atmospheric, but the prices did not really encourage us 😉 We used the Good Donut Shop, the doughnuts were great 🙂 And of course, without leaving the beach, you can eat ice cream, fruit salad, buns, corn and other snacks that are sold directly on the beach, with the so-called "blanket tip"😉
Getting to Międzyzdroje
Although Międzyzdroje lies on the edge of Poland, getting here by car is certainly time-consuming, but not so difficult. And this is due to the S3 express machine run here. So if you get to Szczecin, it will be easy. The access from Gdańsk is worse, because here we are waiting for the complete S6 route. In Międzyzdroje, there is a paid parking zone with a price list starting from PLN 3.5 for the first hour (2022). The zone is valid only from Monday to Friday, but at different times depending on the sub-zone and the season.
You can get here by train, but with a change in Szczecin. It's about an hour and a half drive from Szczecin. The station is located about 1.5 kilometers from the pier, and you are also waiting for a walk.
