It clashed hard with the iron laws of business and the bloodthirsty tycoons who built incomprehensible estates, soullessly exploiting the workers. They left behind palaces with dazzling interiors, undamaged during the war, and old factories, great colossi made of bricks, into which a new spirit was breathed today.
Construction of the Izrael Poznański factory
The most popular example of a factory complex today is Manufaktura, the property of Izrael Poznański, valued at 12 million rubles after his death. For comparison, the monthly salary of the then weaver was about 12 rubles. The child, who could work in the factory after the age of 12, earned only 2 rubles for a month, which was enough for about 8 loaves of bread.
A self-sufficient textile factory operated here for 120 years, using looms from Poznań's time to the end. He imported them from England as the most modern machines in the world. Manufaktura - commercial, cultural and entertainment complex
Today, the Łódź Manufactory is a project of revitalization of 19th-century buildings of the former factory, unique in the whole of Europe. The historic buildings of the weaving mill, spinning mill, etc. have been wonderfully renovated and developed, and a modern urban space has been added around. The whole thing makes an amazing impression! The red, non-marking brick allows you to feel the former character of this place.
Manufaktura is the largest centre of culture, entertainment and trade in Poland, opened in 2006. There is also a Market Square with colorful fountains, where concerts and outdoor picnics take place. This place attracts locals and tourists like a magnet. Numerous restaurants have been created here, but it is also worth visiting the Factory Museum, the ms2 Art Museum or the Experymentarium - a fun science center. There is also a cinema and Andel's Hotel.

Poznański Palace - Museum of the City of Łódź
The manufactory is a very extensive area, and the main entrance is the so-called Gate, standing next to the beautiful Poznań Palace, which currently houses the Museum of the City of Łódź. The palace is adjacent to the former factory. It is full of splendor, later called the Little Louvre. Among the cotton kings of Łódź, it was he who enjoyed the most sumptuous palace. At least from the outside, but also from the inside. Although he enjoyed this perhaps wrong term, because in fact the palace was finished after his death. The Museum of the City of Łódź allows you to admire the beautiful palace interiors, but also to learn about the history of the city.
