Accommodation in Mallorca
While visiting Mallorca, we slept all nights in the resort of El Arenal, adjacent to Palma, the island's capital. It is an interesting place with a bay and numerous souvenir shops, but also many restaurants, because young people like to play here. It's not super quiet here, and our Hostel Atlanta was also not of a high standard. I would say medium.
In addition, there is a fully equipped kitchen with appliances (fridge, microwave, toaster) and a game room with billiards. The bathroom is a bit poor. Although rooms of a slightly higher standard are also visible on the booking. In the double bed there was a pillow instead of a duvet, one (and I like to have my own), but it was not a problem even in October, because it was warm and the pillowcase was wide. We had towels replaced every day and there was very good contact with the owner who was eager to help. When we arrived at night on the first day, there was no one at the reception desk, but the key to the room was waiting for us in a signed envelope. Compared to other accommodation on the island, it was really cheap here. We paid PLN 900 for 4 nights for 2 people.

Here you will find a wide selection of accommodations. By booking your stay on Booking.com through our link, you support the development of our blog — and we thank you in advance! It helps us reach many interesting places that we later love to show you and share our experiences and information with you.
Mallorca attractions, or what to see in Mallorca
The capital delights with extremely interesting buildings with Art Nouveau tenement houses, a huge cathedral and the only round castle in Spain. But this is just the beginning, because the island offers a wonderful coastline with cliffs and turquoise bays. Fantastic landscapes appear at every step. We will help you choose the most beautiful attractions of Mallorca. Here's an overview of the most interesting places and experiences to discover on this picturesque island.
Palma de Mallorca - the capital worth visiting
The capital of Majorca, Palma de Mallorca, is the largest city of the Balearic Islands, full of monuments and culture. It is called Little Barcelona. Crowded, lively, but also climatic places. It combines a rich and long history with modernity. You have to go here when visiting Mallorca. But in our opinion, this is not the most beautiful city that the largest island of Spain offers. Valldemossa or Alcudia are more charming.
Start your city tour with La Seu Cathedral, one of the most important Gothic buildings in Spain. Next door is the Palau de l 'Almudaina, a former royal palace with beautiful gardens and luxurious apartments. While strolling through the narrow streets of the historic center, you can come across charming cafes and boutiques. It is also necessary to go to the only round castle in Spain - Castell de Bellver, which overlooks the city, offering a beautiful view. It is available for tourists for a fee, as is the aforementioned cathedral.
The streets of the village lead to many interesting squares, which we recommend to get to know, especially the one with an 800-year-old olive tree (Placa de Cort) or those with Art Nouveau houses in the style of Gaudí.
Parking: we went here on purpose by bus, because there are few parking lots and they are expensive, but if you decide to go by car to the capital, we drop off 2 paid parking lots. The first one is more expensive, but it is located in the heart of the city. The second one is closer to the castle:
- Parc de la Mar, address: Av. de Gabriel Roca
- Aparcament Marquès de la Sénia, address: Carrer del Marquès de la Sènia, 32, Ponent

Cap de Formentor, or Cape Formentor
Cap de Formentor is Mallorca's northernmost cape, known for its breathtaking views. At the end of the cape there is a lighthouse from 1863. Access to the lighthouse itself is possible by both car and bus (in high season, the road for cars is closed). High cliffs and winding roads make it a popular spot for photographers and nature lovers.
According to us, Formentor is an obligatory point on the tourist map of this Spanish island. It is its northern end offering wildly picturesque landscapes. It ends with a peninsula 20 km long. Extension of the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range, through which you have to break through when heading to Formentor. Coming back in the evening, we used the Ma 13 motorway, which allows us to easily and efficiently return to the capital.
When going to Formentor, we chose the more difficult Ma-10 route. The serpentines wind among the peaks. But it is incredibly scenic. The road is asphalt, the surface is level, and the edges are secured. But there are a lot of cyclists on it, and since there is no shoulder, you have to be very careful about them. There are several viewpoints along the way, where it is definitely worth stopping for a moment. Especially on Mirador de Es Colomer.
Parking: at the viewpoints and at the end at the lighthouse there are free parking lots
Mondrago Natural Park with beaches

For nature lovers, the Natural Mondragó Park, which lies in the southeastern part of the island, will be an ideal place. It offers pristine hiking trails through pine forests. It is one of the most beautiful places on the island, an ideal place to relax and admire the local flora and fauna. It is famous for its beautiful beaches and turquoise water, which is why popular places in Mondrago Park are 2 sandy beaches - Cala Mondrago and S'Amarador beach. The whole thing is just a cove. There is no shortage of them in Mallorca, they delight with their beauty. In Mondrago, two beautiful sandy beaches surrounded by a rocky coast look at each other, creating an amazing bay shape. It's great to see it from a drone.
Here, in October, you can enter the sea and enjoy the charms of summer. That's why I love the Mediterranean. Even in winter, temperatures fluctuate around 13-15 degrees Celsius on average, and the sun shines here for about 300 days a year. Paradise on earth.
Here, instead of waffles and corn, there are delicious fruits: pineapple, mango, watermelon and others. The Lord calls and peels and cuts on the spot. But I think that these beaches are still the weakest point of this place. Can you believe it? Crowds and ordinariness. It is on the surrounding educational paths that you can feel the charm, commune with nature and appreciate the incredible beauty of Cala Mondrago.
Parking: paid large parking lot in front of the entrance to the trails, a few hundred meters from the beach

Cala del Moro - Mallorca's treasure
Cala del Moro is one of the most beautiful and picturesque coves in Mallorca. It is famous for its unique charm and crystal clear water. It is located on the southern coast of the island, near the town of Santanyí. It is a place of relaxation and close contact with nature, and in addition it hides a grotto from which you can take an illusory photo reminiscent of the Maltese island of Gozo.
Cala del Moro is a small, hidden bay, surrounded by steep cliffs and lush vegetation. Its turquoise water colour and fine white sand make this place often compared to Caribbean beaches. The bay is about 100 meters long and is ideal for swimming and water sports, such as snorkeling or paddleboarding.
The surroundings of Cala del Moro offer many opportunities for hiking. There are numerous trails along the coast that offer spectacular views of the sea and the cliffs. Next to it is Cala s 'Almunia, which also impresses with its beauty. It is a small fishing bay with several traditional cottages where you can feel the local atmosphere. It is also worth strolling to the opposite cliffs and watching the wonderful sunset from there. These places are not so crowded, there are not many pubs here, so it is worth taking some food with you. Instead, you move to one of Mallorca's last paradises, which remains in a protected area.
Parking: free in Santanya, where you have to walk

Alcudia and Ancient Pollentia
Alcudia is located on the northern coast of Mallorca. This city as a whole made the biggest impression on us on the whole island, and we were the last to visit it. Very picturesquely located, with a very rich history and extremely interesting tourist attractions. It is known for its well-preserved old town, surrounded by medieval walls on which you can walk. The area has been inhabited since prehistoric times, and in the 2nd century BC the Romans founded the city of Pollentia, which became the capital of the region. In the ninth century, the city came under Muslim rule and gained the name Al-Qudya, which means "on the hill".
In the 13th century, King James I of Aragon commissioned the construction of defensive walls. Today, these walls together with the Old Town are a real architectural gem. Charming, narrow streets with houses dating back to the 13th century create a unique atmosphere. The most important gates are Porta de Moll (Porta de Xara) and Porta de Mallorca (Porta de Sant Sebastià), which are the symbols of the city.
I also highly recommend visiting the Roman ruins of Pollentia with an amphitheater, which are available for a fee. It once housed 2,000 spectators. You will also see fragments of streets and Roman houses as well as a forum. It is a perfect place for lovers of history and archaeology. The ticket also entitles you to enter a small museum with exhibits of ancient origin. And if you like swimming, you will definitely like Platja d'Alcúdia. It is one of the longest beaches in Mallorca and one of the most beautiful. It offers golden sand, crystal clear water, attractions, paid sun loungers and an interesting pier. Ideal for families with children and relaxation.
Free car parks: small at the Porta de Mallorca gate, large at the ruins of Pollentia and a few hundred meters from the beach (Via de Corneli Atic, opposite the petrol station).
Pollentia Roman ruins from the museum: 4 euros

Valldemossa - a city with Fryderyk Chopin in the background
Not everyone knows that Mallorca became home to our Fryderyk Chopin for several months. In Valldemossa, he spent the winter with his love - George Sand, a French writer. They met in Paris and I imagined that it was a great, romantic love full of rapture. In fact, it was a complicated relationship. Fryderyk had a difficult nature as an artist, as well as poor health. His chosen one was older than him and had two children from a previous marriage that did not facilitate their relationship. Even before we left, we watched "Chopin. Desire for Love"with Danuta Stenka and Piotr Adamczyk to get into the mood.
Valldemosa is very cute. We recommend visiting the monastery where Fryderyk lived. This is a modest cell, where the museum is currently located (5 euros, only Chopin's Cell No. 4 is included in this price). On the other hand, the view from the terrace was very nice, and the terrace itself is currently enchanting. In the cell stands Chopin's piano, on which he played and composed here.
It is also worth walking through the streets of the city, because they are very atmospheric and well-groomed. You will see characteristic tiles with St. Catalina Tomas, also known as Catherine of Palma, on almost every house. It's the only Saint from Mallorca. She was born in Valldemossa, in May 1533. She gave her life to God in a monastery in Palma and died there. She was canonized in 1930 and her cult in this city is very much alive. The colorful tiles depict scenes from her life and requests for her intercession. It made a big impression on us that the whole town expresses worship and is so coherent and harmonious, and at the same time it looks modest and beautiful at the same time.
Parking: paid, on the main street, close to the city center, 2e/h

Fornalutx - the most beautiful town in Mallorca
I dare to write that Fornalutx is the most beautiful mountain village in Mallorca, and some say that it is the most beautiful village in all of Spain. Wildly picturesquely located in the heart of the Serra de Tramuntana mountains. Its charm lies in the narrow, winding streets, traditional architecture and the magnificent landscapes surrounding it. Located just a few kilometers from the crowded Sóller, Fornalutx captivates tourists with its authenticity and tranquility.
It has a huge charm and reminds us a bit of "Terrible John", that is the town of Grožnjan from Istria in Croatia. It impresses with its climate and the density of painterly alleys. Beautiful here are stone facades, dating back to the Middle Ages, with red roofs and green shutters. The building also betrays previous Muslim influences. One of the main tourist points is the church of Nostra Senyora, which impresses with its Gothic architecture and Baroque details. Life revolves around Plaza España, where there is a town hall and a charming fountain. There are cafes and restaurants serving local specialties and Majorcan crafts.
Parking: paid parking above the village, at Carrer Arbona-Colom

Sóller, or the tram to Port de Soller in Mallorca
Sóller is a picturesque but very crowded town in the Serra de Tramuntana valley, known for its beautiful landscapes, rich history and the historic cable car that takes tourists to Port de Soller. Often referred to as the "City of Oranges" or even the "Valley of Oranges", Soller is famous for its citrus cultivation.
The narrow streets lead to Plaza de la Constitución, which is adorned with the beautiful church of Sant Bartomeu. There are many pubs and a retro tram stop, which will take you to the port, where you can count not only on beautiful views, but also cruises on the sea. From here, "Red Lightning" also leaves for Palma. In the past, it carried citrus fruits, today it carries tourists from all over the world. Although the city has an undeniable charm, for us there are too many tourists here and it is very difficult to find a parking space.
Parking: there are several paid parking lots in the city, but in October they were full, we circled around a few times and found a paid place on one of the streets a little away from the center.

Cuevas del Drach or Dragon Caves in Mallorca
Cuevas del Drach, or Dragon Caves, is one of Majorca's biggest tourist attractions. It's also the most beautiful cave we've ever seen. It is huge and gorgeous, with an impressive drip robe. Here, infiltrations grow much faster than in Polish caves. The temperature underground is about 20 degrees Celsius at 95% humidity. The route leads for about 1200 meters to the culmination point. An unusual attraction here are underground lakes that sparkle with turquoise color, which looks out of the ordinary. In addition, the Coves del Drach cave hides one of the largest underground lakes in the world, Martel, with a length of about 170 meters and a depth of 4-12 meters.
Something unusual and fantastic is the fact that the cave tour ends with a classical music concert. It's a unique experience. Imagine you're deep underground. The lights suddenly go out, we are sitting in an amphitheater with other tourists and suddenly a lighted boat emerges on a lake far away, in which four musicians are sitting and playing. Something fantastic. They swim past us, swim around the lake, come back, stop and give us about a 10-minute concert. Chills on the back. You can't take photos or videos then. I understand, because it's about these emotions, so that no one disturbs anyone and just to experience it in your heart. I recommend it to you. Later, as part of the ticket, you can take a boat ride a few hundred meters through Lake Martel. The tour takes about 1 hour.
Parking: free on site

The most beautiful beaches in Mallorca
Mallorca is famous for its beautiful beaches that delight with turquoise water and white sand. The most popular include:
- Cala Mondrago and S'Amarador Beach - 2 sandy beaches in Mondrago Park with turquoise water and heavenly views. Usually crowded, they offer a beach restaurant with fast food and drinks
- Playa de Alcudia - according to us, it is the most beautiful beach in Mallorca, not counting the rocky coves. It is a wide, typical sandy beach, stretching for about 10 km, with attractions, sun loungers and a beautiful view, there is a nice pier and a port with restaurants
- Cala del Moro - one of the most beautiful and picturesque coves in Majorca, xe due to the turquoise water and bright, fine sand is compared to the Caribbean beaches
- Playa de Palma – stretching for several kilometers, ideal for sunbathing and water sports
- Playa de Formentor – a picturesque beach surrounded by mountains, offering spectacular views
- Playa de Muro – known for its shallow water, perfect for families with children
- Cala de Sa Calobra - the bay is reached by serpentines with beautiful views
Interestingly, in 2024, due to too many tourists, the inhabitants of Mallorca protested against this and closed the beaches. The problem is significant, even in October there are many tourists everywhere. It is certainly tiring for them, and besides, there is an additional problem here. Well, for years, the beaches on the island have been getting smaller, they are simply dying. Soon they may disappear from the map at all, and that would be an irreparable loss. This happens, among other things, because the sea takes away these beaches, and they are simply limited by concrete promenades and nature cannot cope with it on its own.

Other things to do in Mallorca
Palma Aquarium
The Aquarium is an interactive maritime museum that will delight both children and adults. It has one of the largest sharks in Europe and a variety of marine ecosystems. Guests can watch sharks and participate in interactive activities such as swimming with these majestic creatures.
Torrent de Pareis Gorge
For those looking for adventure, we recommend Torrent de Pareis, one of the largest gorges in Europe. Hiking through this spectacular canyon is a real challenge for trekking enthusiasts, offering unforgettable views of the surrounding mountains and the sea.
Mallorca is an island full of contrasts, where everyone will find something for themselves. From historic landmarks in the capital to picturesque beaches and spectacular rock formations, Mallorca's attractions are diverse and delightful. Whether you are looking for relaxation in the sun, outdoor activities or cultural experiences, Mallorca will meet your expectations and leave indelible memories.

Map of Mallorca attractions
On the map below, we have highlighted the best attractions and places in Mallorca that are worth visiting. But also the parking lots where we stopped. This will certainly make it easier for you to plan your holiday in Mallorca if, like us, you visit it on your own.
What and where to eat in Mallorca?
For a pleasant break between exploring the island, there are plenty of cafes, bars and restaurants that offer traditional Mallorcan cuisine. We were tempted, for example, to visit the iconic chocolate bar in Palma, which has 17th-century roots. It is called Ca'n Joan de s 'Aigo(Carrer del Baró de Santa Maria del Sepulcre, 5, Centre). There are several of them in the city, we chose their oldest place. We bought ensaïmada here. This is a very popular Majorcan specialty. They are usually bought in a round form, like pizza, in similar boxes. It's a takeaway, and you can buy either smaller round versions or quarters on the spot. It is a cake that can be without filling or with different fillings. I ate pumpkin jam in this cafe. On top of that hot chocolate. It was delicious, and the iconic almond ice cream is also worth tasting here. This place is famous for them, just like the whole island is famous for almonds in general. They didn't come very close to me, it's like frozen pieces of almonds.
We were surprised by the low prices of coffee and sweets in Mallorca. The chocolate bar is not expensive, similarly, in Alcudia we paid 5.5 euros for coffee and a large piece of cake in the elegant Restaurante Satyricon, which is cheaper than in Poland.
From the specifics of Mallorca, it is worth tasting paella. It is a Spanish dish, based on rice, with the addition of saffron and fried in a metal pan with two handles. There are many varieties, paella can contain pieces of seafood, rabbit meat, poultry or various vegetables. We took the mixed version, which means all in one. We ate it at Cafe Paris in the capital (Major 1 Square).
Tapas are also very popular. These are small snacks with various additions. They hide meat, vegetables, seafood or eggs. They are usually consumed with alcohol, e.g. red wine. They can be served on bread, but not necessarily. We cost them in several places, because they are very popular and you can find them everywhere.
And speaking of bread, we also recommend pambola, or bread with olive oil in the literal sense. It is a traditional Mallorcan snack, in fact known since antiquity. We tasted the version with the Sobrasada sausage typical of this region. And everything can be drunk with sangria, a wine drink with fruit. It's also a Spanish delicacy. We ate Pamboli in a beautiful café in El Momento in Cala Figuera, in the east of the island.
A great place to get to know the local cuisine is the Mercat de l 'Olivar in Palma. It's a bustling market where you can find fresh local produce and try traditional tapas.

Car in Mallorca - rental, parking and practical information
We rented a car in Mallorca at Fast24, which is run by Poles. It was a great choice and we highly recommend it. Everything went smoothly, quickly and without any problems. We received the car at the airport, immediately after arrival, without any deposit and handed it back at the airport before departure. We used our cell phone to navigate in the car.
Thanks to this, we visited many beautiful places on the island, easier and faster than by public transport. We took a bus to Palma. Because Palma is difficult to drive, there are a lot of narrow streets, and above all, it offers very few parking lots and they are expensive.

Car parks and parking spaces
In Mallorca, you can stand for free in places marked with a white line.Paid parking zones are marked with a blue line and yellow lines indicate no parking. Avoid these places, because it is a risk not only of a fine, but also of towing, which is already associated with high costs and problems. In cities, parking is usually paid and costs a few euros. There are often parking meters.

When to go to Mallorca, i.e. the weather on the island
Mallorca is a dream place to extend your holiday. In the summer, the heat is onerous and there are crowds everywhere, so it is worth going here in the autumn months. We visited the island at the beginning of October and it was warm and sunny every day, although at times clouds obscured the sky. The mornings and evenings were already cold, although some wore T-shirts with straps until late at night. In the short sleeve you could walk if you are not cold. During the day it was very warm and we bathed in the sea. In the summer, there is very little rainfall, in October it may happen more often, but it did not rain for a moment, and we were there for 5 days. Also holidays in Mallorca will be perfect, but not in the summer months!
