Location & Directions

Łomnica Palace is located in Łomnica at 3 Karpnicka Street, in the Mysłakowice commune. It was located on the Bóbr River, in the Jelenia Góra Basin. It is about 10 km from the centre of Jelenia Góra, from where you can reach it by car in about 15 minutes. From Wrocław, there is the A4 motorway and the 367 road. From Upper Silesia, e.g. fromKatowice to the Łomnica Palace, the fastest way to get there is by car via the A4 motorway through Gliwice, Opoleand Wrocław. At the Wrocław Południe junction, turn into DK5 and through Strzegom and Bolków you will reach Jelenia Góra and then follow the local road to Łomnica, or before Jelenia Góra turn into the local road. The entire route from Upper Silesia takes about 3.5 hours. Free parking is available on site at the palace. In front of the gates for shops and museums, and next to the Widows' House for hotel guests.

Large palace: Museum with multimedia exhibition Three centuries of life in Łomnica Palace

The entire Baroque Big Palace invites you to the museum with a multimedia exhibition "Three centuries of life in the Lomnica Palace". Inside, the original spatial layout has been preserved - a hall with Doric columns and large fragments of wall painting with classicist ceiling painting decoration. While walking from the medieval cellars of the former castle to the top floor of the palace, you touch the history of this place. The decor brings the atmosphere of past centuries. I was very surprised by this place! How rich in exhibits, interestingly arranged and fantastically prepared for tourists. They can be visited with a guide or on their own with a tablet that suggests many videos. They inform not only about the rooms visited, but also about the lives of people who lived here. The museum has as many as 18 rooms on three floors with historical furniture, baroque cuisine, a study and a classroom from the 1950s. The whole was enriched with 60 films in the application. It's a fantastic time travel!

A small palace, or Widows' House full of flavors with guest rooms

In a small palace, i.e. the Widow's House (or widows) from 1804, guest rooms and a delicious restaurant were prepared. I will say right away that the prices are adequate to the place, so they are not cheap, but the food is wonderfully delicious and beautifully served. Perfect for special occasions. If you like the palace style, you will definitely like it. We prefer more modern interiors every day, but from time to time I like to experience something completely different.

House of Prayer and developed farm buildings with craft shops and the Stara Stajnia restaurant

Around the palaces there are nice walking areas, and in the farm buildings there are unusual shops: linen and a farmhouse with preserves and a bakery. Especially the former refers to the past of the property and the activities of one of its owners, who was involved in the production of flax. Next to it, you will also find the cozy Stara Stajnia Restaurant and a shop with antiques and objects from the past. You will see here, for example, beautiful cups, I even bought one for my collection.

Near the Baroque palace, there is also the historic Evangelical House of Prayer from Rząśnik. Designed for demolition, it was saved and moved to Łomnica in 2018, where it is a symbol of Silesian tolerance. It fits so well with the hospitality of this place and is so close to our heart. Although we have not considered Lomnica to be the most beautiful palace in this region so far, it has taken us by the heart and teaches us not to judge by appearances. History of the palace in Łomnica

The history of the Łomnica Palace dates back to the late Middle Ages. The earliest information about these estates comes from the turn of the 15th and 16th centuries, when the estate was in the hands of the Silesian knightly family von Zedlitz. They ruled these lands from the fifteenth century to about 1650. It was probably the von Zedlitz family who built the first Renaissance manor house or expanded the medieval one, because the Gothic cellars have survived to this day. In 1650, Łomnica was acquired by the Imperial-Austrian Lieutenant Colonel Matthias de Thomagnini, and this family resided here until about 1738. They rebuilt the manor house into a baroque palace around 1720, according to the design of the famous architect Martin Frantz. The baroque shape with a characteristic columnar entrance portal is recognizable to this day, although the body was later modified many times. The current palace is a three-storey building, which in the extreme corners emphasizes the alcove, i.e. protruding, corner faces covered with a separate roof, higher than the main building. The next owners were the Mentzl family, who exhibited a smaller, classicist Widows' House. From 1835 until the end of the war, i.e. 1945, the estate was owned by the von Küster family. It rebuilt the Biedermeier style palace.

After World War II, in the times of the Polish People's Republic, the property was nationalized. The Widow's House performed the administrative functions of a farm (PGR), and a primary school was set up in the main palace, which functioned here until the 1970s. Of the twentieth century. At that time, the whole complex was degraded and fell into ruin. In 1977, the ruined school was moved to a new building, and the palace was left without a real guardian for some time. Since 1991, the estate in Łomnica has remained in the hands of the descendants of the von Küster family, who are gradually revitalizing the buildings and introducing life to one of the most beautiful noble estates of Lower Silesia. It is a hospitable place in the Valley of Palaces and Gardens, which delights guests with its extraordinary history and unique charm. It combines museum and hotel functions, protecting the local cultural landscape.

Karkonosze Wernyhora - prophet Hans Rischmann and his prophecy

At the end of the 16th century, a local prophet, Hans Rischmann, of the Karkonosze region of Wernyhora, was born in Łomnica or its vicinity. There was unbelievable news about him that his body could penetrate the rocks and fly over the peaks of the Lomnicky Hills. He made a mysterious prophecy: "O country of Poland, o country of Poland! You black hole! A great misfortune will come from you! You, Silesia, will have to survive it. " Today, it is difficult to interpret these words. Some considered him a madman, others sought the meaning of this prophecy in the post-war years. And in fact, here we touch on difficult topics, because after World War II these areas were somewhat unattended. The population from the east came here, for whom these were foreign areas. We have often heard stories that they did not even unpack in the hope that they would return to their homeland. And this is the second problem, because post-German monuments for many were, and even today are, inconvenient. They wanted to get rid of them, flatten them. This was the case in the 1960s. Of the twentieth century, and the best example of this is our small Versailles in Świerklaniec. We have a different opinion on this subject. Today, it is our heritage, a trace of history, no matter by whose hand it was built. We became the guardians of these facilities. And it is up to us whether we leave them in ruins or whether they will shine to please tourists and future generations.
