Łeba. Attractions worth seeing: the beach, moving dunes, amusement parks

Łeba is one of the most popular holiday resorts on the Polish Baltic coast. It is located in the Pomeranian Voivodeship, at the mouth of the Łeba River to the sea, between Łebsko and Sarbsko Lakes. It is a very attractive summer destination for tourists. Łeba owes its reputation to its magnificent natural, microclimatic and rich tourist infrastructure. Above all, they attract here the wonderful dunes of the Słowiński National Park!

Łeba is also an ideal place for sports, especially windsurfing and sea and inland sailing. There are also a lot of family attractions waiting for you here.

Experiences in Łeba

The City of Elements, as Łeba is called, is a multidimensional place. In fact, the place is ruled by natural elements, such as water and wind, but the place also offers a lot of forms of entertainment. In the center, near the beach, you will find attractions at every step. When in Łeba with children, be sure to visit popular amusement parks, where children will certainly be delighted and will not be bored. In Łeba itself, the Łeba Park with dinosaurs was created, while in nearby Sarbsk there is the Sea Park Sarbsk with the Fokarium and the Prehistoric Aquarium with aquatic creatures. It is also worth taking a look at Alex's Farm in nearby Charbrow. And this is still only part of the tourist attractions in this corner. Moving dunes in Rąbka near Łeba

The area around Łeba is famous for its magnificent moving dunes, which are an attraction on a European scale. They lie in the area of the Słowiński National Park, slightly west of Łeba and stretch over a length of 5 km and a width of 1 km, between the coastal Łebsko Lake and the Baltic Sea. To visit them, it is best to drive to the last parking lot, next to the observation tower. The car park is paid and you need to buy a ticket to the National Park. We had a Big Family Card for free.

From the parking lot to the dunes, there is a walk of 6 kilometers, you can also move on bicycles. They are left by the dunes, in racks, if there are no free ones, you need to stop at a paid stop. You can also get there by melex. They run every day.

The initial fragment to the so-called Rocket Launcher is divided between pedestrian traffic and melexes and bicycles, so you can walk comfortably and pleasantly. The path leads through the forest and even the heat is not a problem here. Mosquitoes can be a nuisance - it's worth spraying yourself with something. Behind the launcher, the path connects with other means of transport, so you have to be more careful, because melexes ride often in the season, there are also a lot of cyclists. From here, about 30-40 minutes of walking are left and you finally reach the wonderful dunes. 

The sand that forms them, usually smashed by a strong wind, is constantly moving. The dunes can change their position by up to 10 meters per year and grow up to 40 meters. That is why they sometimes cover trees, which they later reveal in the form of dead stumps. They create an amazing view. The difference between the smoothness of the sand behind the traffic limiting posts and in places where you can walk is beautiful and significant. 

It is one of the most beautiful, and probably the most beautiful place in Poland that I have ever seen. You can return by the same road or by the beach, from which there are exits to the launcher and to the parking lot.

Rocket Launcher Museum

On the way to the dunes, the Rocket Launcher was hidden in the forest. Once, the Nazis had a secret testing ground here, where they tested Rheintochter anti-aircraft missiles and Rheinbote (V4) battlefields. After the war, the area was taken over by the Russians, and then the Polish meteorological missile "Meteor" was tested here. It is the first completely Polish structure to reach the ceiling of at least 92 km. According to the American nomenclature, it has reached the limit of space. 

If we listened to the guide, we as a nation could mean a lot in space exploration, but the project was suddenly closed. The reasons for this are not entirely clear, because some of the information is classified. Today, on the premises of the paid Museum, you can see these rockets, both German and Polish, available in the hangar.

Beach in Łeba

The beach in Łeba is very wide and beautiful, with exceptionally soft and clean sand. There are also lifeguards, and what is valuable, there is a specific microclimate with an increased content of salt and iodine, which have a healing effect. There are many dining options on and near the beach. 

On the beach at the exit at Leśna Street, Copacabana Beach Club is an ideal place for sunsets. At the same descent, the Łeba Discovery Park was created with numerous attractions in the form of slides, carousels and all novelties. If you want to walk quietly with your children, choose the adjacent descent to the beach.

The most beautiful, widest and least frequented beach is located near the exit from the dunes. You can walk it for kilometres towards the centre of Łeba.

The promenade in Łeba

Kościuszki Street is a nice promenade, which is popular with residents and tourists. During the season, it is crowded here. There is a bench with a dog, as well as the Avenue of Presidents - the first in Poland!

Museum of Amber in Łeba

Located near the beach, the museum uncovers the secrets of the formation of Baltic amber and shows the history of this unusual stone. You will walk through an amber forest from 40 million years ago. There are 4 rooms waiting for visitors:

• Amber forest - where the process of creating today's amber began
• Ice Age - with life-size animals from the Ice Age, which played an important role in the formation of amber deposits
• Inclusion room - you will see insects trapped in amber from 40 million years ago
• Amber room – a room with very interesting amber exhibits

In addition, the Museum offers an exhibition of the Land of Dragons, with scenes from films. Amelia was happy to discover a cardboard Toothless from the fairy tale "How to Train Your Dragon".

Sarbsk Sea Park

Sea Park is a unique park related to the theme of the seas and oceans. You will see mock-ups of sea creatures with information plates, wrecks of famous ships or a playground with an octopus. It's a great place for the whole family.

The sealarium in the Park impresses with California sea lions (South American kittens) and grey seals. They give shows several times a day, during which you can see how smart and friendly the animals are. These shows are at the same time a good sports training and medical review. 

Experienced trainers during such shows check the general condition of the animals, look into their mouths, check their limbs, and all to keep them healthy and safe. For observers, however, it is a great fun, during which they can admire seals while playing with a ball, dancing or even singing. In the auditorium, they even turn into actresses!

And do you know how a sea lion is different from a seal? The first one has small ears, as the name suggests, which we also found out during the show.

Alex Charbrowo Farm

The farm of the nice bunny Alex is the first agricultural amusement park in Poland. This makes it unusual and surprising. In addition to live animals such as goats, alpacas and ponies, you will see numerous crops that show how much work it takes to obtain edible plants. It is a large dose of useful education and creating an ecological attitude. In addition, you will have fun here with country games, relax on hammocks by the sandbox or get lost in a corn, natural maze with platforms.

Very nicely arranged slides are waiting for children, among others in agricultural machines. In addition, everyone can jump in Skoków, play Footgolf, do wheelbarrow races or visit a hay village. Here you can spend some really interesting hours of family fun, among unique attractions. The farm also organizes workshops.

JuraPark Łeba

It's an eye-catching park with Flintstone-style dinosaurs. It will allow you to experience an interesting adventure and a journey into the past, to the Cretaceous era. Here you will find a path with prehistoric life-size reptiles. In addition to the dinosaurs, you'll be surprised by the Flintstone Vehicles, Bayland, Gold Mine, Magic Mirror Labyrinth, pedal boats, water slides, mill wheel, playground, and more.

Funland - Inflatable Amusement Park in Łeba

Created in 2021, the Inflatable Amusement Park for the whole Funlandia family in Łeba is a great place to spend a family afternoon, especially if you feel tired of sun and sea baths. There is no shortage of attractions for the whole family in the park that will make you feel like a ninja! The Funlandia Inflatable Amusement Park in Łeba is a total of almost 700 m2 of attractions! There is a 400m2 playground under the roof (thanks to which no rain will stop the fun) and a powerful, one of the longest in Poland – a 50-meter obstacle course in the open air. In the shortest possible time, you need to overcome such obstacles as: large climbing walls, long slides or narrow tunnels. A huge 8-meter jumping hill in a jungle theme awaits the bravest. During the holidays, the park is open every day.

• Cruises on the lake and the sea - an additional attraction in Łeba, by the lake you can, for example, get to the interesting Open-Air Museum in Kluki or to the Museum of Rocket Launchers. Cruises on cutters and passenger ships by sea are also popular
• Fairytale Railway - you can visit the whole city, just like with melexes
• Spa - the city offers a stay in modern rehabilitation centers with a wellness program. The extraordinary healing qualities of Łeba have been known for a long time, mainly chronic diseases related to reduced immunity of the body can be treated here
• Sunsets - always magical

Restaurants in Łeba

The city offers plenty of restaurants and catering facilities. We highly recommend a few of them, in which we tasted delicious and fresh fish. We really liked the Fisherman's Tavern Last Rescue Board. It is located at Wybrzeże Street, on the Chełst River, close to the center of Łeba. The fish here is delicious and fresh, caught from their own boats. It is especially worth tasting flounder and a slightly more expensive turbot. The place is also famous for its own dumplings, and I was delighted with potato pancakes.

Very pleasant is the Stawros Frying Room, located a little off the beaten track, on the Łeba River, at Sienkiewicza Street. Here, it is a real fish kingdom, where particularly delicious plaice is recommended, but also, of course, flounder, turbot and other fish. It is worth tasting the delicious salmon tartare. And everything can be watered with Łebski beer from a local brewery. Of course, I was captivated by the dark, and this time not only by the taste, but also by the beautiful turquoise label!

On Nadmorska Street, near the beach, we were enchanted by Restaurant No. 5, with delicious pizza. You can choose the in pala version, which is a rectangular pizza from a board. This cake, although high, is not thick, because it just has holes inside. In addition to pizza, we tasted fantastic potato pancakes with salmon and Thai fish soup, based on coconut milk. Great and spicy. I also asked for the nicest drink on offer, because everything looked so beautiful that the Paradise Bay drink complemented the whole thing.

And if you fancy a delicious coffee and an equally good dessert, visit the Coffee Roaster Cafe No. 5, on Chełst, opposite the Fisherman's Tavern. The desserts here are poetry of taste. The company dessert is not too sweet, i.e. the No5 ice-cream cup with nuts. And if you want to sweeten yourself, a meringue cake with mascarpone will do the job! If you're not driving, be sure to try Affogato No. 5 coffee, with bailey's liqueur.

We also recommend the U Mieci nad Chełstem Smokehouse, where you can buy fresh smoked fish, e.g. for a trip home. It's cheap here!

Accommodation in Łeba

We highly recommend the Oasis of Łeba Holiday Centre. It is located about 750 meters from the beach. It is a 10-minute walk away. Close to the promenade, with shops, restaurants and fry shops, which leads to an intimate fishing port. The conditions in the Łeba Oasis are fantastic, the rooms tasteful, very clean and decorated in a modern style. In our apartment there was a living room, a bedroom, a bathroom with a shower and an equipped kitchenette. There is also a shared kitchen. 

The resort is child-friendly and offers a playground and a covered, attractive playroom. In addition, every day at 6 pm there are attractions for children in the form of games, workshops or games with an animator or an inflatable slide. The schedule of individual attractions is available at the reception. You can also use bicycles or rent screens for the beach. For a small fee, you can bring your pet. 

Interestingly, the Łeba Oasis is also the organizer of the great cycling event Bicycle Deluge AZS. It is a joint trip on the bicycle routes of Sweden, which can be reached by ferry.
