Lanckorona - the city of angels. Get to know its attractions and curiosities

Lanckorona, or the magical city of angels, is a very charming town in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, located between Wadowice and Myślenice, 3 km from Kalwaria Zebrzydowska (or, as some say, Kalwaria Zebrzydowskich). Lanckorona is located on the mountainside, which is why the strongly sloped Market Square offers amazing views of the valleys below and even distant towns. With good visibility, the magnificent panorama reveals Calvary with a monastery, Krakowor Babia Górain the Żywiec Beskids. That's impressive!

Climatic Lanckorona
Lanckorona has an amazing atmosphere, I felt it the first time we came here🙂 In terms of location, it reminds me a bit of Cognacs, which also lies on the mountainside and offers fantastic landscapes. On the other hand, in artistic terms, it reminds me ofKazimierz Dolny on the Vistula River, because this place is also popular with artists, painters, directors, and photography enthusiasts.

A word is a good word
With the difference that Lanckorona is much more secluded and small-town than Kazimierz Dolny, conducive to rest, which many liked. It is such a place for people who love the "slow travel" style. Actually, Lanckorona is just waiting to be discovered, but maybe it is better not to become another trampled place and lose its charm.

Experiences in Lanckorona
Lanckorona impresses with its buildings and location, it does not really need any additional, fancy attractions. Check out what to see in Lanckoron!
1. Lanckoron Market
19th-century, often wooden and atmospheric, market houses delight. The market in Lanckorona is very original and interesting, it rises upwards, towards the towering church, and next to it there are small houses forming a picturesque ensemble. They are reminiscent of past centuries, and some houses also have wooden arcades, formerly used for commercial purposes. This is a very original building!

2. The ruins of Lanckoron Castle
On the top of the Lanckorońska Mountain, the ruins of a building from the 14th century, created thanks to Casimir the Great, can be reached by walking up the street, behind the church

3. Lanckoron Museum Chamber
In the corner of the Market Square, at Piłsudskiego Street, there is an original cottage from the 19th century, where there is a regional museum presenting folklore and exhibits from Lanckorona and the surrounding area, in the shop you can buy interesting souvenirs, mainly hand-made, among them the symbols of the town - angels and cats 🙂

4. Angel Festival in the Town
The increasingly popular festival of angels has been held in Lanckorona for over a dozen years, in mid-December. Then the Market Square becomes an angelic open air for many dressed-up people who take part in taste fairs, concerts, workshops, etc. The Angel Festival in the Town takes place before Christmas and fits perfectly into the atmosphere of this special moment of the year 🙂

5. Lanckorona Church
The parish church of St. John the Baptist in Lanckorona is a building from the 14th century, standing almost at the Market Square. The temple gained its current shape in the 16th century.

Where to sleep in Lanckorona?
Even the accommodation in Lanckorona is atmospheric and beautiful. In the center you can spend the night in the Forest Garden or in the historic Villa Tadeusz, we slept in the wonderfulHotel Modrzewiówka, although a bit off the beaten path, although for me it is even an asset. The facility is beautiful, with a historic part consisting of the Modrzewiowa Villa built in the 1920s. In the alpine style and the modern part from 2011.
