Funzeum in Gliwice. A great museum for the whole family

Funzeum in Gliwice, or the Museum of Light and Color, is a new, wonderful and unique attraction on the map of Silesia. It was established in 2022, in the Central Europe shopping and entertainment complex, at the intersection of the A4 and A1 motorways, which makes access here very convenient, both from Katowice and Wrocław, and additionally from many other Silesian and Polish cities. In a few words, it is difficult to clearly define Funzeum, because it is both a modern museum and a great family amusement park, where you can play at will, surrounded by a lot of colors and beautiful, surprising arrangements. It is a very fashionable, Instagram-like place, but at the same time a great playground for children. The whole place is under a roof, in a warm atmosphere, which makes families fall in love with this place after the first visit. The photos here take their own, so if you like to take photos, you will be delighted, and if your children like to be photographed, then you have already found your little paradise 🙂

Experiences in Funzeum

On an area of 4,000 square meters, there are over 50 fabulously colorful and exciting multisensory installations in several rooms inspired by the colors of the rainbow. It is currently the largest place of its kind in Poland, where, apart from ingenious arrangements, great gadgets and exhibits are waiting to be used during shooting. Imagination has no limits here🙂 The whole is divided into the Color Exhibition, the Light Exhibition, as well as the FunCafe zone in the children's playroom.

Color Exhibition - 12 rooms, 37 scenes in the colors of the rainbow

In fabulously colorful rooms, you will befriend a prism - a magical solid that shows how many colors are made up of white, "colorless" light. You will immerse yourself in the rainbow as much as possible when in contact with the light. Light, which, according to physicists, is both a particle and a wave. Our senses are filled with colors, there is no end to the fun, and if someone wants to read about trivia, they will also find such a possibility. Want to see if you're hot? It turned out that I am 😉
Visiting this zone takes about 60 minutes, and on the route there are, among others:

 • balloon dog
 • land of ice
 • sunflower meadow
 • big red heart
 • pink couch
 • photogenic honeycomb with bees
 • unicorn bench
 • and many others, and every scene is asking for photos 🙂

Light Exhibition - 10 rooms, 25 scenes

Funzeum Gliwice wystawa kolorów

Here you will learn a new dimension of light perception, first darkness, then a lot of light, and finally a lot of mirrors and a kaleidoscope, and a fairy-tale fluo forest in 3D glasses - you have to see it with your own eyes! Here you will learn about artificial light sources, mainly UV lamps, that make the surrounding fluorescent room look so amazing. And did you know that the Moon is, in a sense, one big mirror? The fun does not end there, you will discover many interesting facts here, you will read a lot of valuable information on the plaques! At the Color Exhibition, among others, about the color space (RGB, CMYK, grayscale, etc.) or thermochromism, and at the Light Exhibition about the phenomenon of light reflection or the phenomenon of luminescence.
Visiting this zone takes about 60 minutes, and on the route you will meet:

 • fairytale fluo forest with benches
 • bubble bath
 • wall on which you "paint" flowers
 • the Hall of Mirrors
 • crystal chamber
 • and others

Funcafe and Funzone - coffee in the children's play area

After visiting two permanent exhibitions - Color and Light, we move on to the gastronomy and fun zone. In the café, you can enjoy coffee, cake and ice cream. You can sit back in colorful, color-changing armchairs and watch the kids play in the big fun zone. There is a pool with balls, a monkey grove with obstacles, a large playing piano on which children can run, a garden with a house and a slide, and other attractions. Behind the play area there is also a hall with a stage, as well as a souvenir shop.

As the creators of this place themselves claim, the Fun Museum is such a museum on the contrary, because while usually in museums we see a lot of bans at the entrance, there is only one ban in the Fun Museum - the ban on bans! You can sit , enter and play anywhere without restrictions. An additional advantage is the fact that the Funzeum is open every day of the year, from morning until 20.00, so you can easily find a convenient date for yourself, and if you do not like the company of other people, choose the morning hours. There is a free car park and a free cloakroom on site. You walk in shoes, only in a few children's play areas at the Café you have to take your shoes off. Of course, the facility is wheelchair accessible.

It is worth adding that the grand opening of the Funzeum, prepared for many months, coincided with the outbreak of the war in Ukraine in February 2022, which is why the entertainment part was largely abandoned during the opening, and all income from the weekend opening on February 26-27 was donated to Ukraine for the Polish Humanitarian Action (PAH). It was over 26,000, but the Museum added 30,000 to the round sum and transferred such an amount to the aid fundraiser!

Is it worth visiting the Fun Museum?

You ask me such a question, of course you do. If you have children, or at least a little child in you, this place will surely appeal to you. Your senses want to go crazy, your cell phone is hot from taking photos, and you have a new experience every step of the way. You can calm down only in the cafe, but they are only adults, because children have the coolest play zone there, where they can go crazy, run on a playing piano, slide down the slide, jump in balls or in a monkey grove. Wade through huge balls, listen to colors and do various other strange things 🙂 I recommend visiting and forming your own opinion, but it is also worth listening to the voice of a child! 🙂 And right next to the Fun Museum there is the famous Railway Station in Gliwice - the world of trains in miniature. This place is also worth a visit.
