Cala del Moro. The most beautiful bay of Mallorca?

Cala del Moro, Calo des Moro in Mallorca, is one of the most beautiful and picturesque coves in Mallorca. It will delight you with its beauty, I am convinced. It is famous for its unique charm and crystal clear water. It is located on the southeast coast of the island, next to the Spanish town of Cala Llombards, 7 km from the town of Santanyí. It is a place of relaxation and close contact with nature, and in addition it hides a grotto from which you can take a picture reminiscent of the Maltese island of Gozo. Nearby there is also Cala s'Almunia, a small fishing bay with several traditional cottages. You will feel the local atmosphere here. There are slightly fewer tourists here than on other beaches, and at sunset you will see stunning landscapes on the nearby cliffs. We were alone here and we had them all to ourselves!

Accommodation in Mallorca
While visiting Mallorca, we slept in the resort of El Arenal, adjacent to Palma, the capital of the island. It is an interesting place with a bay and numerous souvenir shops, but also many restaurants. It's not super quiet here, and our Hostel Atlanta was also not of a high standard. I would say medium. In addition, there is a fully equipped kitchen with appliances (fridge, microwave, toaster) and a game room with billiards. The bathroom is a bit poor. Although rooms of a slightly higher standard are also visible on the booking. There was 1 pillowcase in the double bed instead of a duvet, but it was not a problem even in October, because it was warm and the pillowcase was wide. We had towels replaced every day and there was very good contact with the owner who was eager to help. When we arrived at night on the first day, there was no one at the reception desk, but the key to the room was waiting for us in a signed envelope. Compared to other accommodation on the island, it was really cheap here. We paid PLN 900 for 4 nights for 2 people.
Here you will find a wide selection of accommodations. By booking your stay on Booking.com through our link, you support the development of our blog — and we thank you in advance! It helps us reach many interesting places that we later love to show you and share our experiences and information with you.
Cala del Moro - a wonderful bay with a hidden beach in Mallorca
Cala del Moro is a small, hidden bay with a sandy beach, surrounded by steep cliffs and lush vegetation. Its beautiful turquoise water color and fine white sand make this place often compared to Caribbean beaches. The bay is about 100 meters wide and is ideal for swimming and water sports such as snorkeling or paddleboarding. The place is delicious and amazes tourists!
Cala del Moro Grotto

To get to the beach, you have to descend from a high cliff, and a unique beauty of the cave is waiting at its edge. Maybe not so much the cave itself is as beautiful as the view that appears from it. The photographs taken here resemble those from the Maltese cave of Al-Mixta on the island of Gozo.

Access, parking and access to Cala del Moro
Reaching Cala del Moro is a bit complicated, which means that the bay is not as crowded as other beaches in Mallorca. To reach this charming place, it is best to rent a car and head towards Santanyí. The beach is located on the southeast coast of the island, next to the Spanish town of Cala Llombards, 7 km from the town of Santanyí. The capital of Palmais just over 60 km away, and you can get there by car in about 45 minutes.
We parked in a large, free car park in Cala Llombards y Cala S'Almunia. Then follow the signs to Cala de s 'Almunia. You have to walk a distance of about 1 km to reach the beach itself. Wandering up the cliff, you can admire the wildly picturesque landscapes, at the end you have to descend quite steeply along a narrow, sandy path, to a rather narrow beach squeezed into the rocks. It is worth taking water and snacks with you, because there are not many amenities in the area.

Cala s 'Almunia
Right next to it is Cala s'Almunia, from which you can quickly reach Cala del Moro or vice versa. She also delights with her beauty. It is a small fishing bay with several traditional cottages where you can feel the local atmosphere. Both bays are perfect for a day on the beach and exploring the underwater world.

Zona Caló de n'Adrover/Mirador Cala Llombards - a trail to the nearby cliffs to the sunset
The surroundings of Cala del Moro offer many opportunities for hiking. There are numerous trails along the coast that offer spectacular views of the sea and the cliffs. We walked to the Cala Llombards viewpoint, from where we were delighted by the landscapes at sunset. A real paradise and very intimate, because we were here alone! We highly recommend this place, both the cliffs and the bays below.

Nature Conservation
Cala del Moro is located in a protected area. Therefore, many natural ecosystems have been preserved here, and the areas around the bay are home to various species of plants and animals. Nature lovers will surely appreciate this valuable corner of Mallorca. The Amics d'Es Calò des Moro Foundation, which takes care of her, claims that this is one of the last paradises of Mallorca!
Cala del Moro is a real treasure of Mallorca, which delights with its natural beauty and tranquility. It is ideal for those looking for relaxation, but it is no longer completely devoid of tourists. However, you will still experience more peace and contact with wildlife here than in other more popular places of this largest island of the Balearic Islands. Whether you plan to spend the day at the beach or explore the surrounding trails, Cala del Moro is sure to provide you with unforgettable memories. Nearby, it is also worth visiting another picturesque bay - Cala Mondrago in the Natural Park of the same name.
