Miejska Góra is an interesting place for family recreation, located near the center, a little to the west of the market square. Among the greenery of the City Park, a runway for brown bears was created, which is unique. Two missions found the house, Kuba and Matěj. It is a great joy when they emerge from the greenery and you can look them in the eye. And they are real stars, because they appeared in a popular Czech fairy tale. Nearby, on this hill, there was also an observation tower from the period of the First Republic, i.e. the interwar period. What is worth seeing in the area? Czech Karst and its attractions
The Bohemian Karst is a land full of geological wonders that delight both nature lovers and adventurers! Can you believe that this land began in a warm sea 400 million years ago? It looks a bit like our Jura, and what does it offer?
- Grand Canyon - The Czechs have their Grand Canyon, just 4 km from Karlstejn Castle. And in it you can admire "world" quarries: America, Mexico or Canada! It's nice to walk among them, with unearthly views like birds over rocks!
- Konepruskie Caves - inside the picturesque hill with the graceful name Golden Horse, ploughed by man to extract rock wealth, there are exceptionally beautiful caves. It is the largest known underground system in the Czech Republic (not the Czech Republic), a historical land. They are powerful and although only a fragment over 600 meters long has been made available for sightseeing, it is enough to admire them and enjoy the natural decoration in the form of calcite infiltrates. The most valuable and oldest of them are the so-called Koněprusy Roses
- The rock wall of St. John - the most beautiful view in Central Bohemia. The last to illusion resembles our Jurassic ones, towering over the former abbey of Svatý Jan pod Skalou. When you stand in the parking lot, it seems to you that the rock is impregnable, or at least not for you. Nothing could be more wrong, she immediately reminded me of Sokolica in the Będkowska Valley. Here, too, along the path behind the rock, you will reach the very top, under the cross, quite quickly and efficiently. It took us 20 minutes and we stood on the roof of the area, with a beautiful view around, at an altitude of just over 300 m above sea level.
- Karlstejn Castle - the greatest summer residence in the world and the greatest castle in the Czech Republic. It was built in the Middle Ages by King Charles IV. This is the same ruler for whom the famous Charles Bridge in Prague was built. Both objects are famous all over the world and arouse a lot of emotions. And when Charles IV became Roman Emperor, it was in this fortress that he decided to hide from the world valuable collections of sacred relics as well as treasures and crown and even imperial jewels. But the very silhouette of the castle is unique and delightful! It is located only 8 km east of Beroun.

A Brief History of Beroun
The first mention of Beroun dates back to 1274, when King Přemysl Ottokar II granted it city rights. In the Middle Ages, the city developed thanks to trade and craftsmanship, especially pottery. To this day, this royal town is famous for its ceramics fair and its proximity to Karlštejn Castle.

Where to eat in Beroun?
In Beroun, we stayed for a long time in the Black Dog Restaurant, which we recommend. It is true that it is not Czech cuisine, and typically American, but very tasty and it is worth relaxing here and tasting delicious dishes. We ate a fancy hamburger and very good-looking and tasty ribs here. At the market square, we switched to the golden liquor at the Beroun Český Dvůr Restaurant.

Where to sleep in Beroun?
While exploring the area, we slept in the beautifully located Farm Krkavčí Hora Nižbor. It is a place for horse lovers, but of course not only. Away from civilization, among fields and meadows. There is a stable with horses outside the accommodation. It is a former farmhouse, beautifully revitalized. The guest rooms are located in a new building, the rooms are modestly furnished, but they are very clean, spacious and offer what you need, i.e. a private bathroom and a wide bed. There are also breakfasts and a fully equipped kitchen where you can even cook lunches. The place is worth recommending.
