Bad Muskau Castle

The beautiful castle of Bad Muskau is located in the wonderful Mużakowski Park, which is located in Poland, near the city of Łęknica and in Germany in the city of Bad Muskau. The two cities share a long common history and the work of the famous landscape architect - Prince Hermann von Puckler-Muskau, who created the largest and most famous English-style park in Poland and Germany. The Mużakowski Park, covering an area of 750 hectares on both sides of the river, was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2004.
Puckler's castle, called Schloss Bad Muskau, stands on the German side, but just behind the Lusatian Neisse, which is the border between the two countries. A double bridge leads to it, which lies in the Park, excluded from car traffic.
Bad Muskau Castle is beautiful and impressive, built on the foundations of a 16th-century Renaissance building. In its current, surprising form, however, it was created in the nineteenth century for an eccentric traveler - Count Hermann von Puckler-Muskau, as well as the entire park complex here. For his creation, the count divorced his beloved wife and married a richer woman who helped him realize the idea. Today, the so-called New Castle delights tourists, as it is available for paid sightseeing. You can walk around the park free of charge. The surroundings of the castle are equally beautiful, well-groomed vegetation and ponds add charm to the place.

In the vicinity, you should definitely visit the Mużakowa Arch Geopark with its wonderful, colorful lakes, as well as the UNESCO facility.
